Grandview, Hidden Lake and King's Riding Take Top Spot at the 2024 Interclub Championship

Updated: 6 days ago

The 2024 ClubLink Interclub Championship has wrapped up, leaving Members buzzing with excitement. The Interclub Championship is the culmination of a season-long competition, where ClubLink Member Clubs vie for the coveted title through a series of regional events. The Championship, held in early October, brought together the most skilled male and female golfers for two days of competition to crown this year's champions.

Women’s Interclub Championship at Greystone and King Valley

The two-day Women’s Interclub Championship was hosted September 30 and October 1, at Greystone Golf Club and  King Valley Golf Club. On day one, 29 teams each representing their ClubLink Home Club, gathered at Greystone Golf Club, where they kicked things off with a closest-to-the-pin shootout on the 18th hole. Following the shootout, teams headed out for round one of the Championship. Following golf, the ladies enjoyed a surf and turf dinner at the Greystone Bistro. The evening was made even more special with a guest appearance from Canadian Sports Commentator Rod Black, who notoriously lights up the room with laughter and good vibes.

Day two brought the women to King Valley Golf Club for the final round. The competitors teed off in a shotgun start, battling it out for the championship title. The final leaderboard saw the team from King’s Riding pull off the victory, dethroning last year’s champions, King Valley, by a 10-point margin.

Women’s Interclub Champions – Team King’s Riding

In a dramatic finish, Team King’s Riding (Anna Seoul, Jin Han, Lena Nguyen, Sarah Yoon) took home the title of 2024 ClubLink Women’s Interclub Champions.

Second Place – Team King Valley

Despite a valiant effort, the reigning champions from King Valley (Jin Young Lee, Susan Ha, Wai Ching Anderson, Yvonne Han) settled for second place this year.

Third Place – Team Caledon Woods

Rounding out the top three, Team Caledon Woods (Donna Vaughan, Maureen Marentette, Sandy Lee, Sue Bousfield) put on a solid performance to claim third place.

Men’s Interclub Championship and Consolation Divisions

16 teams in the Men's Divisions headed north to battle it out at ClubLink’s three Muskoka Clubs: Rocky Crest, Lake Joseph, and Grandview Golf Club. The tournament kicked off at Rocky Crest on October 7. Players were treated to a gourmet lunch before the action began with a closest-to-the-pin shootout on the 18th hole. This opener set the tone for the rest of the day, as competitors teed off in a shotgun start, with every swing bringing them closer to the title.

Meanwhile, over at The Lake Joseph Club, the Championship Division teams fuelled up with a buffet lunch before taking on their own closest-to-the-pin challenge at the Academy Course. Players gathered on the patio cheering their teammates on as they aimed for perfection in this tense showdown.

As day one wrapped up, players from both divisions reunited at the picturesque Rocky Crest Resort for dinner under the marquee tent with Rod Black entertaining the gentlemen.

Day two saw the Championship Division teams fuel up with breakfast at Windows Restaurant at Rocky Crest, while the teams in the Consolation Division grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to Grandview Golf Club. Both divisions faced a challenging day on the course, with tough fall weather conditions testing their skills. Despite the elements, the players powered through. After the round players enjoyed a quick lunch, and the winners took home some great gear courtesy of TaylorMade.

Championship Division Champions – Team Grandview

Team Grandview (Head Pro Ryan Barry, Greg Bubela, Ray Nichols, John Devins, Don Mayhew, Mike Krause) emerged victorious, showcasing skill, determination, and teamwork to claim the title of the 2024 ClubLink Men’s Interclub Champions.

Consolation Division Champions – Team Hidden Lake

The Consolation Division saw Team Hidden Lake (Andy Formagie, Charles Lee, Gary Froneman, Lane Bailey, Head Pro Tom Dueckman, Tyler Wiseman) rise to the top, capturing the championship after two competitive days of play.
